The Leadership Foundry Strives to Assist More Women to Serve on Corporate Boards in Washington, D.C.-area; Now Accepting Applications for 2014 Program Participants

Fairfax, Va. – May 6, 2013 – Women in Technology (WITTM), the premier organization contributing to the success of professional women in the Washington, D.C.-area technology community, today announced The Leadership Foundry’s first participant to be appointed to a corporate board, Vincette Goerl. Goerl now serves on the Board of Advisors for FedBid, Inc, the fully managed online marketplace for business and government commerce. The Leadership Foundry was launched in 2011 by WIT to assist more women to serve on corporate boards in the Washington D.C.-area.

The Leadership Foundry provides intensive board training sessions as well as formal and informal networking and mentoring opportunities to assist women in obtaining their first corporate board seat. A Steering Committee of seasoned board members advises both the program and the participants.

“The Leadership Foundry helped me develop the skills and provided the access to people and organizations necessary to successfully identify, pursue and achieve a position on a corporate board,” stated Goerl. “I’m excited about the opportunity with FedBid and confident that the training I received will help ensure I have a positive impact on the organization.”

Goerl, a member of the inaugural class for The Leadership Foundry, has a successful track record as a leader, problem solver and financial manager in the Federal government, consulting services industry and non-profit organization boards. She became a member of FedBid’s board of advisors on April 1, 2013.
