Join the WIT Women Business Owners Special Interest Group (WBO SIG) for an evening of invention—the fourth and final event in our 2019-2020 series is designed to help entrepreneurs put all their learnings together and take their product or service to market.

This interactive event will nurture your entrepreneurial talents and help you apply your creativity to position your product or service for the marketplace. The event will begin with an overview of the Invention Cycle with a deep dive into the Entrepreneurship step. This step focuses on taking on the essence of creativity – going from an idea to reality.

Your guide in this journey will be serial entrepreneur Ngozi Irondi-Azubike. Ngozi will share her story of entrepreneurship rooted in passion and persistence. She will draw on her own experiences to illustrate the art and science of taking your product or service to market. All entrepreneurs - from idea through serial - will learn from this engaging and informative session. The evening will conclude with a question and answer period. Participants will leave with a roadmap for taking their product or service.

Ngozi Irondi-Azubike

Ngozi is a serial entrepreneur and consultant with over 20 years of experience in business startup, growth and acquisition, as well as operations consulting with major U.S. corporations and governments.

Her areas of expertise include business strategy, business transformation, organizational change management, and entrepreneurship. She combines executive-level experience and business acumen to provide senior executive clients with strategic insights on business growth, organizational effectiveness and efficiency, and business process innovation that lead to optimum performance.

Her clients include executives in mid-large commercial firms and multi-billion dollar federal agencies - Her clients are C-level and Director-level executives in small commercial firms ($15M + in revenue), large commercial companies (with 10,000+ employees worldwide and over $2B in revenue) and multi-billion dollar federal agencies. Ngozi has broad multi-cultural business experience, having lived and worked in Europe, Africa and Asia. She has an MBA from The American University, Kogod College of Business.

For over two decades Kara has helped SmartCom Solutions’ clients gain a competitive advantage through technical innovations and reduce costs through efficiencies and modernization. Kara brings a breadth and depth of experience in employing automation to solve organizations’ mission critical business needs. These efforts typically required full scale business process reengineering, as well as custom application development. Kara has extensive experience managing and participating in all phases of the system development lifecycle. Kara has diverse application and industry experience including Mortgage Origination, Mortgage Services, Mortgage Securitization, Mutual Fund Processing, Financial Management and Accounting, Supply Chain Management, and Claims Processing. In her capacity as Chief Executive Officer, Kara is also responsible for setting the direction of the company, business development, marketing, and obtaining/managing resources. Kara holds a B.S. in Decision Sciences (computer science concentration) from George University and an MBA (finance concentration) from Marymount University.

Dr. Arti Patel Varanasi

As President and CEO of Advancing Synergy, LLC, Dr. Arti Patel Varanasi is passionate about developing innovations that empower all individuals to lead healthier and longer lives. She has over 25 years combined experience in cancer research, advocacy, capacity building, health care, public health and project management. Dr. Varanasi’s ultimate goal is to work across sectors to “advance synergy” and develop tools and technologies that help to build sustainable health capacity in resource limited settings. Dr. Varanasi received her PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and MPH from the Johns Hopkins University. She is a graduate of the National Science Foundation funded ACTiVATE® program for women technology entrepreneurs. Dr. Varanasi has a long-standing track record of advocacy, mentoring and empowerment.
