Leadership Awards



 

Mission and Overview:

Annually, the Leadership Awards recognize and honor women professionals who have exemplified leadership while promoting the WIT mission of Advancing Women in Technology from the Classroom to the Boardroom.

Typically nominees for the Leadership Awards work in a technology role or for a technology company where they accelerate at leadership and innovation. In addition they stimulate professional growth of those they manage or mentor through their actions and encouragement. Nomination categories offer many opportunities to highlight the outstanding capabilities and accomplishments of women from large and small public and private organization, demonstrating social impact, being a stellar contributor to WIT and others.

The Leadership Awards Committee actively manages all the tasks to make the banquet a success from selecting the award categories to selling tables. The committee meets bi-weekly by teleconference and from time-to-time will meet in person.

Time: 6:00pm - 9:00pm

Cocktail Attire is preferred.

Committee Volunteering Opportunities: There are three core areas of activities where we can use your help to make the Leadership Awards a big success:

Event logistics - Manage all aspects of the event from garnering nominations, creating a theme, promoting the event, selecting the venue, devise the banquet program, writing the script and more. Working with other committees to socialize the event.

Nomination and Judging – Shepherd the nomination criteria and process for eligible women in the DC, MD and VA area. Select judges and manage the evaluation process

Sponsorship and Table Sales – Find companies to be sponsors and sell individual tickets to the event. Maintain relationship with sponsor and help ensure sponsors identify event attendees to fill tables.
