Join us for our last WIT.Connect Breakfast of the 2024-2025 year on and Wednesday, June 18 to network with fellow WIT Members and hear from Melina Scotto Mastin, Executive Vice President and Founder of Mastin & Associates. Melina's presentation will explore how women leaders are uniquely equipped to address evolving cyber threats such as AI-powered attacks and how we can lead organizations through complex security crises.

Melina Scotto Mastin

Melina began her IT career at CTAA in Transportation IT as a Database Manager/IT Manager where she configured and maintained local DB and network security. She published and spoke on network optimization and security for state transportation shops.

In 2004, Melina moved to global health IT with John Snow Inc. where she worked primarily in network security administration. She configured PKI for linux servers and managed Cisco VoIP systems for a nationwide telecommunications project. Melina continued her work in healthcare at GWU Medical Faculty Associates in 2009 as Network Engineer focused on technical requirements of HIPAA Security Rule and HITECH regulations in a dynamic virtual server environment.

In Jan 2012, Melina joined a National Institutes of Health adding her security expertise to the Center for Information Technology’s Network Access Control group whose mission is to secure national health systems. In 2016, cybersecurity leadership roles began at National Cancer Institute where she led the program in reducing cyber risk and modernizing firewalls and transitioning legacy servers to AWS, earning a cloud security certification (CCSP) and multiple NIH and NCI leadership awards. In 2018, she was named CISO and Chief Privacy Officer for Federal Health/Federal Civilian programs at GDIT where she secured the data and architectures at multiple Federal agencies and penned cybersecurity solutions to grow the business.

In 2022, Melina moved to a global Fortune 200 cybersecurity role as VP & CISO. Securing micro services, applications, and infrastructure across diverse technology stacks and third party strategic partnerships.

Currently in her Advisory & Board era, Melina is uniquely positioned to help enterprises define cyber strategy and risk appetite for their digital footprint.

When not securely linked into a server, Melina enjoys volunteering for Girl Scouts of the Nation’s Capitol. As a 17 year troop leader and Bikram enthusiast, she ran children’s yoga programs for brownies and juniors. Resident of MD suburbs and lifetime O's fan.
