Lean In’s Women in the Workplace 2018 report found that promotional progress is stalled. It signals women are doing their part, but companies need to lean in, too. Waiting for that to happen is not an option! The DMV tech sector continues to grow and change rapidly, the opportunity is here, but so is the pressure to stay relevant. WIT members know that current and future-ready knowledge and skills can be a key differentiator in landing a new job or a promotion, but we can struggle to add yet another deadline-based action item. Instead, let’s embrace the challenge of life long learning.

Our Big Idea: Learn In
The April WIT Connect is the perfect time to spring into action on your continuous learning journey. Be prepared for a lab, not a lecture. Our trio of dynamic speakers will engage you in practical lessons to make learning part of your professional DNA:

Jane Maliszewski is a Certified Neuro - Transformation Coach and the Founder of VAULT Associates. Jane's fun, interactive brain science exercise helps us understand how the different processing styles of the right and left hemispheres impact our work/life effectiveness...and how to leverage them to develop a positive, proactive learning mindset.

Sam Hanna is the Associate Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies, an Executive in Residence and the Program Director of the master’s in healthcare management at American University in Washington, DC. Sam will lead our dialogue on how to evaluate and navigate the myriad choices in professional development, such as which skills are in demand and what type of learning environment is best for you, especially as it relates to ever-evolving technology careers.

As Managing Partner of BCC Consulting and Past President of the Metro DC Chapter of the Association for Talent Development, Bernadette Costello brings her expertise in learning strategy development to help professionals and organizations achieve their full potential. Bernadette will guide us through the steps for building a personalized learning roadmap.

You will emerge from this workshop as a curious consumer of learning opportunities and a more connected member of the WIT community.
