Here’s Looking at You, Kid! Getting in Tune with our Emotional Self-Awareness

You remember that line…the famous Humphrey Bogart send-off from the movie, Casablanca?

What if we could each have a Bogey on our shoulder, giving us a heads up that something is about to bubble up?

When something does bubbles up—stress, anxiety, fear, anger, denial—and we don’t see it coming, we often react on auto-pilot, sometimes with disastrous results.

In this interactive session we’ll practice getting in tune with our Emotional Self-Awareness, a key Emotional Intelligence competency. Our goals:

• Become more in touch with our changing emotions
• Build understanding of how emotions drive our behaviors
• Recognize cues that our emotions have changed

Speaker: Jane Maliszewski, Chief Energy Officer, VAULT Associates

Jane Maliszewski is the owner of VAULT Associates, a Leadership and Team Development company providing Executive and Leadership Coaching and Organization Effectiveness consulting for the individual, team, and organization level.

Jane’s first career of 27 years was in the U.S. Army in the technology field, culminating in promotion to Colonel and a position as the CIO for the Army’s Training and Doctrine Command.

She has Masters degrees in Business Administration and National Strategy, a Bachelor of Arts in History, and advanced professional certification in Organization Development, Knowledge Management, and federal Chief Information Officer. Jane is an ICF ACC-credentialed coach with a specialty as a Certified Neuro-Transformation Coach.

Jane has been active in WIT since 2006 and currently serves on the WIT Leadership Board and as Chair of the WIT Programs Committee. In addition, she is a volunteer coach/mentor with Leadership Arlington, WIT Mentor-Protégé program, Stand Beside Them, Inc. veteran coaching, and Semper Fi Odyssey a unique life success program for transitioning veterans.
