Come join us at our WIT event in October where we will host a panel of women working to secure the private and public sector from cyber threats. You’ll learn what you can do to implement and follow good cyber hygiene practices. In addition, you’ll hear from each of the panel members regarding what their career paths have been in cybersecurity, opportunities for transitioning into cybersecurity or gaining additional readiness, and their perspectives on how cyber is instrumental to their organizations’ and customers’ digital transformations.

Panelists

Samantha Corvino
Senior Manager, Internal Audit and Financial Advisory, Protiviti

Samantha has founded her career on her ability to simplify the technically daunting and bridge communication difficulties eroding organizational growth. With a working knowledge of both accounting and information technology, she has navigated the waters of challenging internal control environments facing conflicting line of business priorities to bring about lasting and meaningful change.

With approximately 10 years of experience spanning the commercial and government sectors, internal controls compliance is a skill set Samantha has spent the predominant amount of her career honing and refining. She is well versed in current AICPA, PCAOB and ISACA guidance, as well as seasoned in applying methodology frameworks to a multitude of industries. She is also specialized in System & Organization Controls ("SOC") reporting, having issued over 150+ reports under her leadership and spearheading national training and methodology revamps for new guidance issuances.

Samantha is currently responsible for the oversight and execution of a portfolio of client accounts within the financial services and telecommunications space. Projects include the management of core IT general controls audits, process reviews related to contractual requirements for regulatory compliance, and risk assessment methodology development and establishment for internal audit departments. Samantha has successfully delivered a wide array of engagements requiring IT, cyber security, and accounting prowess while also advising on value-add improvement opportunities for future organizational efficiency.

She has received both her Master of Accounting and Information Systems (MACIS) and Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Information Systems, with a minor in Finance, from Virginia Tech - Go Hokies! Samantha is CPA and CISA certified and holds various professional memberships in the accounting and technology fields.

 

Veronica Cuello
Vice President, Information Assurance & Cybersecurity, eGlobalTech

Veronica Cuello is the vice president of information assurance and cybersecurity (IA&C) for eGlobalTech (eGT), a leading technology and cybersecurity consulting firm in the federal government sector. In this role, she is responsible for leading the entire IA&C practice - comprised of more than one hundred professionals - as well as expanding eGT’s cybersecurity arm into new markets. She has more than 17 years of experience in providing consulting and advisory services for federal government contracts within the information assurance field, as well as experience with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), cyber risk management and cryptography.

Prior to eGT, she was a senior associate at Booz Allen Hamilton and served as director of cybersecurity at Visual Soft, Inc. Cuello received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Vassar College and her Master of Science in technology management from the George Mason University School of Management. She currently holds various professional accreditations, including Project Management Professional (PMP), Certificate in Federal Executive Competencies, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2), INFOSEC Assessment Methodology (IAM), Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC), Security Essentials Certification (GSEC), Certified RSA Advanced PKI Engineer, A+/Network+ Certification and Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA).

 

Kristin Demoranville
Manager of Information Security Policy and Risk, Sony

Kristin Demoranville is a triple threat in STEM. She holds a Bachelors in Science Degree in Environmental Management, has worked in Information Technology since dial up modems were a thing, and is now currently focusing on Manufacturing Security Risk & Global Policy at Sony Corporation.  Kristin is a significant security contributor and key leader in the global security function for Sony, where she directly applies her solid manufacturing knowledge, substantial technical security expertise, and real-world experience to a variety of Sony Global Operating Companies.

Kristin’s adventure into Information Security started at an early age, she taught herself how to bypass security controls on the family computer. From that moment on, she learned how operating system worked and was she was hooked!  Kristin built her first computer shortly thereafter and is proud to be a PC gamer.  In college, she worked at an electronics store as the only female computer technician.  Since then, she has been recognized by PC Magazine and the Washington Post for her troubleshooting skills, and became a regular on-air technology subject matter expert for ABC and NBC networks in the Washington DC/Baltimore area.

While working in IT at the largest global bakery solutions manufacturer, she received hands on training in Operational Technology. Her degree in Environmental Management gave her a different perspective, making her both excited about the OT aspects of Factory production and the complex processes within IT. Building on her in-depth functional knowledge, she became heavily involved in manufacturing information security, with her strong IT experience lending practical support.

Kristin is passionate about wildlife conservation and holds a Wildlife Certification with the Smithsonian National Zoo.  She has studied gorillas, polar bears, and sparrows, observing various behaviors for behavioral ecology research as a Research Associate for two different universities.  During her international business trips, you will often find her at a zoo or wildlife park.

 

Michele Myauo
Director of Cybersecurity, Microsoft
Michele Lynn-Moore Myauo, Ph.D., is a cybersecurity and IT executive, author, speaker, and professor. She is director of cybersecurity for the Global Cybersecurity Practice at Microsoft. She previously worked at IBM, where she was service area manager for the Operations and Supply Chain Management Practice and deputy director of Enterprise Architecture. She was a professor of engineering management and systems engineering, with a focus on cybersecurity policy and compliance, at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Myauo has expertise in leading cybersecurity, systems engineering, and IT services business execution across academia, industry, and many levels of government, including the federal departments of commerce, state, defense, energy, and homeland security. She holds a doctorate in systems engineering from The George Washington University, an M.S. in industrial and organization psychology from University of Baltimore, and a B.S. in psychology from Bethany College in Bethany, W.Va. She is a black belt with both the American Society for Quality and IBM Certified Lean Six Sigma.
