Join The Leadership Foundry and the Kogod School of Business at American University for a discussion with Congressman Donald S. Beyer, Jr. about the importance of gender diversity in corporate leadership positions and in the boardroom. Congressman Beyer will share some insights about the Men for Women Caucus that he founded in the U.S. House of Representatives “to promote economic growth through women’s empowerment”. Congressman Beyer will also share information about pending bills that would promote gender diversity in our country’s corporations.

Research indicates when a corporate board includes women financial performance excels. Learn how our region fares and what gains women have made when we unveil the research findings for the seventh year.

Each year in partnership with the Kogod School of Business at AU, we produce a research report that does a census of the number of women serving on the boards of publicly traded companies in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC. The report looks at current literature about the effects of board gender diversity and the current trends.

Women play a major role in corporate leadership and should do more. Yet, the number of women serving on corporate boards in the US remains low. Are we moving the needle in DC?
