Girls in Technology
Welcome! Girls in Technology wants to support you and girls like you around the country for a successful future in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) industry.
About Girls in Technology
Girls in Technology (GIT) is led by a committee of Women in Technology (WIT) members who are dedicated to initiating programs designed to create awareness, excitement, educate and inspire girls in grades 6 through 12 to the vast array of opportunities available to women in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Program speakers, mentors and committee members volunteer their time to make a difference in the lives of our future generation. Programs are made possible through the generosity of corporate sponsorships, Women In Technology and the Women in Technology Education Foundation.
To create awareness, excitement, academic and community programs for girls 6-12 in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
Young women will exhibit thinking that is free of inhibition and full of novelty in order to create innovative solutions.
In Spring 2012, GIT students received a special invitation to meet with the White House Council on Women and Girls on two separate occasions. They discussed the importance of mentorship, learned about internship opportunities and about the broadening activities on girls at the White House.Late last year Girls in Technology was invited to visit the White House.
In Fall 2011, GIT was honored with the “Outstanding Educator Award” from the Martin Luther King, Jr. Cultural Foundation, Inc. The “Outstanding Educator Awards” are presented each year to an individual, group, and business in the community that has exhibited outstanding leadership in helping students develop positive attitudes about themselves as well as improved academic achievement.
