Now Accepting Applications for Mentor-Protégé Program 25

Workforce Development Committee: Ready to Work on May 4 - Writing a Winning Resume

One of the biggest changes in the 2010 job market is the shift in what constitutes a strong resume. If you haven’t job hunted in a while, the changes in the landscape can throw you for a loop! Recruiters and hiring managers decide in 3-10 seconds whether a resume will go in the “yes” pile for further consideration or the “no” pile that goes in the dumpster. As a former hiring manager who decided who would get the interview and who wouldn’t, Judy Brannock, Certified Career Coach, knows what works and what doesn’t in this unique job market. More details about this event.

Upcoming Events at The Women's Center

The Women's Center, a WIT Strategic Alliance Partner, is holding two upcoming events. May 6: Resilience: Master Change, Overcome Setbacks and Thrive Under Pressure. Our ability to respond to job pressures, unexpected difficulties and setbacks flexibly, calmly and thoughtfully is important. Our ability to do so during times of rapid change and extreme pressure is crucial. In this compelling, insightful and practical program, Margie shares proven strategies based on the latest psychological research for developing one’s personal strategy for resilience.

June 8: A Time for Resilience and Reinvention. Join The Women’s Center in Celebration of Rebecca Shambaugh’s New Book A Time for Resilience and Reinvention “Leadership Secrets of Hillary Clinton.”

WITEF Fact

Women in the mathematics, and engineering have long been underrepresented in tenured and full professor positions but overrepresented in untenured and junior faculty positions, even after controlling for publication productivity and institutional affiliation. (Sonnert, G. (1995)) These differences have not disappeared over time and today, women faculty in science and engineering are still promoted more slowly and receive fewer honors and leadership positions. (Committee on Science, Engineering, and Public Policy (2007)).
