WITEF Facts
In 2003, building on the work done by WIT’s Girls in Technology (GIT) Committee, WIT founded a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization called Women in Technology Education Foundation (WITEF), which received its initial seed funding from the late John Sidgmore (UUNET/MCI WorldCom) and Mario Morino (Legent Corporation). Our intent is that WIT members recognize WITEF as WIT’s primary charity of choice. To that end, periodically, we will provide our members with information that we believe will be of interest to them.
Congratulations to WIT Leadership
We would like to congratulate the following new members to their leadership positions: Robin Seitz as Chair for Girls in Technology, Robin Steis as Vice Chair for Girls in Technology, Marcie Cheney as Nominations Committee Vice Chair, and Jill Stelfox as Board Member at Large for WITEF/GIT.

First Computer Mania Day a Great Success
On October 31st, nearly 140 middle school girls and boys, along with their parents and teachers, attended the first Computer Mania Day at NOVA in Annandale, Virginia. During the free, half-day event, students participated in hands-on, technology-related activities and learned about different careers that make use of technology. The overall goal was to encourage a diversity of middle school students to consider careers in information technology, engineering, science, and mathematics. GIT Committee volunteers Michele Raville and Glenda Morgan, staffed a table and provided door prizes, including copies of No One Path and WIT polo shirts. WITEF was a sponsor of this event.
