Following the Sun
Time and technology have moved us into a Global Economy. Products must be developed and brought to market faster, manufacturing must be accomplished less expensively, and customer service must be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Those objectives are undoable in the United States. No matter how many hours employees worked, they could not meet the time nor the cost imperatives mandated. Therefore, to accommodate all those drivers, business must “follow the sun” thus creating a Global Economy.

Businesses are reliant on projects; projects that design, create and maintain the various end-deliverables. A Global Economy can’t exist without the discipline of project management. As the economy has become global, the need to follow the sun has had a dramatic impact on the discipline of project management.

Opportunity for talented WIT members — senior professional women and women considering career-changes, professional growth, or exploring other avenues for success — to share, contribute, and learn more from each other. The WIT Mentor-Protégé Program's mission is to encourage dynamic personal and career growth for women in technology through a series of guided quality discussions in a community with other professional women. The program provides an excellent networking opportunity for career path (protégé) and senior (mentor) women. Through five, 2.5-hour sessions over five months, the WIT Mentor-Protégé program provides a platform for success via a light meal, networking, a short talk on a topic of interest, and an hour of one-on-one mentoring for protégés with an experienced mentor. Protégés are matched with four different mentors during each five-month program. Protégés and new mentors complete applications to participate in the program two to three months prior to the program start date. The program framework is "Women Mentoring Women."
