With the realities of the economic downturn continuing to sink in, businesses are fighting for every new dollar of revenue. Clients are placing increased downward pressure on price, demanding unreasonable terms, and taking forever to make purchase decisions.

If you’re struggling with these challenges, you don’t have a product problem. In most cases, you have a positioning problem. In today’s environment, when clients can’t see the value, they won’t sign the checks.

Regardless of your product or service, a solution-centric sales culture will keep your clients and prospects seeing the value and signing the checks. But what does it take to build a solution-centric sales culture? And, if you’re not in sales, how can you contribute?

Join us on for a closer look at the key elements of a solution-centric sales culture. We’ll assemble a multi-disciplinary panel of experts to share their experience in building and applying a solution-centric sales culture within their organizations.

Speakers:

Matt White, Chairman and CEO, White and Partners
Claude Mitchell, Director, National Government Marketing, Verizon Wireless

Pros in Marketing/Sales/Editing Needed: Help Launch the WIT "Bunyan Book" and Learn Leadership Secrets of WIT Award Winners

WIT has identified the "Bunyan Book" as an initiative for this year. This book — profiles of women who have been honored with a WIT Leadership award — is not only underway; it's going full steam ahead.

Why this project at this time? May 2009 marks WIT's 10th Leadership Awards ceremony and the 15th anniversary of WIT — so the timing couldn't be better for interviewing and profiling every winner of the past WIT Leadership Awards, from 1999 to 2009. We aim for the book to:

  • Inspire other women and girls with these stories of leadership.
  • Continue to honor the women WIT has recognized with the WIT Leadership Awards.
  • Raise awareness for WIT and elevate the WIT brand.

We have an immediate need for volunteers to join our Marketing/PR subcommittee:

  • Develop a marketing plan, work on online promotion, create buzz, reach out to media, schedule events, help spread the word about the book, etc.

Volunteers are also needed to assist with Sales/Distribution:

  • Determine how WIT will bring the book to market — coordinate orders and distribution to get the book in the hands of readers.

And we need two to three people to help with editing, starting now:

  • Review submitted manuscripts and "finesse" into publication-ready quality.

Here’s what you’ll get in exchange: an insider's view of these women's leadership secrets and insights, and your name in the acknowledgments.

Contact Charlotte Pelliccia charlotte@pelliccia.biz or Marguerete Luter mluter@bellatlantic.net to learn more about the Marketing/PR and Sales/Distribution subcommittees.

Contact Joanne Lozar Glenn joannelozarglenn@verizon.net about the Editing subcommittee.

Girls in Technology and WIT Education Foundation have been busy!

Girls in Technology (GIT) and WIT Education Foundation (WITEF) have been busy!

On April 23, GIT and WITEF hosted the 7th Annual Sharing Our Success event, entitled "Geek is Chic." Close to 200 girls from around the DC-Metro area gathered to meet women who created successful careers in technology out of their passion for subjects like art, education, geography, and law enforcement.

On March 21, GIT and WITEF hosted "Team Business," an all-day competition where high school-aged girls participated in a business simulation workshop where they learned how to run a box making company. The girls learned vital business concepts like profit, expenses, margins, market demands, and competition while having fun building paper boxes. Click here for photos from the event.
