The Leadership Foundry Steering and Selection Committee
A group of 15-20 experienced women executives will have the opportunity to be a part of this program. The Leadership Foundry will provide intensive board training sessions that prepare women to serve on a board of directors. In addition, there will be formal and informal networking, and mentoring opportunities to assist the participants in obtaining their first corporate board seat. WIT will provide the Washington D.C. business community with annual research on the number of women currently serving on the boards of publically traded companies in the area and advocate for more women to serve on boards.
The Leadership Foundry will be managed by WIT. A Steering Committee of very experienced women and men, who have served on one or more corporate boards, will advise both the program and the participants.
Participants will apply to The Leadership Foundry via an application process described below. WIT will rely on the Steering Committee to guide the selection of the participants. Participants must cover part of the costs of the program training sessions and commit to a good faith effort to obtain a board position in the 12 months following completion of the program. Successful participants may be asked to support WIT’s advocacy efforts to increase the number of women serving on local corporate boards.

Volunteer for the Leadership Foundry Committee
Do you have a passion to see more women serve on corporate boards in our area? If so, please join The Corporate Board Committee which plans and runs The Leadership Foundry. There are many volunteer opportunities available from finite tasks to larger initiatives. We need support around partnerships, sponsorships, events, selection, media, publications, marketing and the alumni group. Please note that serving on the committee will preclude you from applying for the program during that year.
