The Leadership Foundry
The Leadership Foundry was created by Women in Technology (WIT) to assist more women to serve on corporate boards in the Washington, D.C. area.
We are no longer taking applications for the 2013-2014 program.
The Leadership Foundry provides a two-day board training session that helps to prepare women to serve on a board of directors. In addition, there are networking and educational opportunities to assist the participants in obtaining their first corporate board seat. WIT provides the Washington, D.C. business community with annual research on the number of women currently serving on the boards of publicly traded companies in the area and advocates for more women to serve on boards.
The Leadership Foundry is managed by WIT. A Steering Committee of very experienced women and men, who have served on one or more corporate boards advises both the program and the participants.
Participants apply to The Leadership Foundry via an online application process described below. WIT relies on the Steering Committee to guide the selection of the participants. Participants must cover part of the costs of the program training sessions and commit to a good faith effort to obtain a board position. Successful participants may be asked to support WIT’s advocacy efforts to increase the number of women serving on local corporate boards.

Volunteer for the Corporate Board Committee
Do you have a passion to see more women serve on corporate boards in our area? If so, please join The Corporate Board Committee which plans and runs The Leadership Foundry. There are many volunteer opportunities available from finite tasks to larger initiatives. We need support around partnerships, sponsorships, events, selection, media, publications, marketing, curriculum and the alumni group. Please note that serving on the committee will preclude you from applying for the program during that year.
