You are invited to join us this year at the 9th Annual Women in Technology (WIT) Charity Golf Tournament. All funds raised at this event benefit the Women in Technology Education Foundation (WITEF), a 501 c 3 charitable organization. Through the funds raised for WITEF, WIT’s Girls in Technology Committee organizes and manages programs to encourage girls to “take a swing” at math, science and technology fields. WITEF’s mission is critical to create awareness, support and opportunities to increase the number of girls who will go into technology for their future education and careers, and particularly girls in underserved communities.
Unless exposed at a very early age to the practices of mathematics, the sciences, engineering and technology in general, many girls will lag behind their male counterparts in not only their school-aged years, but also in their ensuing professional careers. Therefore, the mission of WITEF is to empower young girls by engaging them in technology and computer-related learning through outreach that provides scholarships, mentoring, tools, speakers and other types of support for school-sponsored and community programs that foster technology interest in elementary, middle and high school girls.
WITEF has helped hundreds of girls in the local communities by providing mentors and speakers, as well as financial support for field trips, assisting with program and curriculum development, providing program resources for Career Days in Virginia, Maryland and D.C., and exploring any and all opportunities to expose girls to technology. WITEF also provides grants to schools and community organizations as well as individuals scholarships.
WITEF’s efforts are helping ensure that the next generation of professional women is well equipped for tomorrow’s challenges. Without your support many of those needs will go unfulfilled. So we need your help!
Join companies such as Northrop Grumman, Booz Allen Hamilton, AT&T, CDW-G, Cisco Systems, IntelliDyne, IT Solutions, ManTech, Market Connections, SAP, SRA and The Analysis Corporation who have already signed up as a sponsor for this year’s event.
Support WITEF’s mission and come join us to “Drive to Succeed” on Tuesday, October, 7, 2008. To register as a Sponsor, either Corporate or individual, or donate a Silent Auction item, please go to www.girlsintechnology.org.
